The Royal Aero Club is excited to announce our next Try & Fly Weekend will be held over the June Long Weekend!

The Royal Aero Club is holding a try and fly weekend for individuals of all ages and background to picture themselves in the pilot seat taking the controls of a real airplane.

General Details

  • The June 2025 Try & Fly Weekend will take place at the Royal Aero Club’s training base at Camden Airport over the King's Birthday Long Weekend (Sat 7th – Mon 9th June)
  • Spaces will be limited so to secure your sport please complete the sign-up form as soon as possible.
  • The weekend will be split into half-days (morning and afternoon) all including the same activities including a one-on-one Trial Introductory Flight with a Flight Instructor, airport airside tour, visit to the Control Tower*, Career Talks, and BBQ Lunch.

From Camden you will head towards Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek learning the basics of flight with spectacular views of Warragamba Dam as your classroom.

Blue Mountains

Trial Flight

From Camden you will head north-west towards Katoomba and experience fantastic views of the Blue Mountains National Park and Lake Burragorang while learning to fly the aircraft.

Northern Beaches

Our most scenic trial flight takes you over the Northern Beaches with stunning views of the Hawkesbury, Palm Beach, and the Pittwater acting as the backdrop to your first taste of flying.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up?

Signing up is nice and easy. You just need to be at least 13 years old and complete the sign up form above (if the form doesn't load please head to https://forms.gle/mpdGdxDdJBFTqWCL6w).

How old do you have to be for flight training?

To commence regular and ongoing flying lessons you must be at least 14 years old however the Trial Introductory Flight can be completed from 13 years.

Do I need to have completed flight training before?

Not at all! We will support student pilots every step of the way to best enable them to take to the skies and progress towards their First Solo Flight and beyond. All training regardless of your final goal (ie. airline pilot, military aviator, flight instructor, etc) starts here with a Trial Introductory Flight.
